This is a great idea.

See, I've talked to some folks who believe that industry should be worker owned, and worker controlled, so that everyone collectively profits from the means of production. This would be the logical conclusion to such an idea: collective ownership of business, pooling resources to get business off the ground.

So are there any members of this community who have tried such a model? How did you go about getting started? What are the upsides? What are the drawbacks and concerns from a business perspective? Any other information would be helpful. In our city, unemployment is a huge problem. We also have a plethora of vacant storefronts and other businesses that could seriously need some investment, and have great potential.

Advice would be welcome. Or if the mods could post some helpful links in the userinfo section, that would also be awesome.

thanks folks.

Just joined, I think this is a great idea, and I'm interested to see what ideas are produced. I'm currently employed, but I do have some extra cash, and I'd like to hear about your new business suggestions. Currently all of my investments are in stocks and bonds, but if I can see that there's a good chance of a return on capital, without a substantial risk of loss, I may be willing to invest in the idea.

Good luck everyone.
